You read that right!
Did you know that as of January 1, 2015, all 50 states allow patients to seek some level of treatment from a licensed physical therapist without a prescription or referral from a physician (1)? It’s true!! In the state of Ohio, there are some provisions to this rule, which are all met here at Synergy Physical Therapy and Wellness. Your insurance may have some requirements for coverage, so it is always important to check your benefits with your insurance provider.
What this means:
You can walk in or call our office wanting to do physical therapy, without a referral, and we can schedule you for an evaluation same week; sometimes same day! If you do have a referral for Physical Therapy, it does NOT have to be directly for Synergy! Any referral or prescription for physical therapy services can be given to this office and you can be treated by the staff here at Synergy.
Physical Therapists are Doctorate level practitioners highly skilled in their education and clinical training for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and interventions for patients of all disabilities and limitations. With direct access, these professionals are able to begin seeing and treating patients in need without the delay of physician referrals and prescriptions (2). Synergy’s Physical Therapists keep in close contact with all providers of your healthcare team during your care. Synergy’s PT’s are sure to have excellent communication and consistently thorough documentation to ensure that your treatment is well explained and comprehensive. Our team works together internally as well, to ensure that all of our providers can guarantee you will receive optimal care with each visit.
Direct Access for Physical Therapy increases the ease of accessibility to healthcare services for anyone. Synergy Physical Therapy and Wellness is happy to treat you with comfort, ease, and excellent service.
